Shoppers flock to Premium Outlets looking to snag a deal

Posted: Updated:
GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

The parking lot was full, the sale signs were everywhere and shoppers toted around bags. From the looks of it, Black Friday seemed to be a success at Premium Outlets in Gulfport.

Aeropostle Store Manager Sandra Barnett said, "We had a really good crowd last night, constant throughout the night last night, and steady throughout the day, and we are really excited to see what the rest of the day is going to bring."

Barnett said the 60-percent off everything sale is attracting lots of customers.

"Our goal is to make sure we push past what we did last year and make that and even more, and by the sales we are offering this year are even better than last year, it's bringing those extra customers and extra dollars in," Barnett said.

While some were getting a jump on Christmas shopping, many were using the bargains as an excuse to stock their own closet.

Kallie Vosch said, "I got a pair of jeans that were normally $40 for $20."

Leigh Frederickson said, "I got my cotillion dress at BCBG."

Shoppers say even though it is the biggest shopping day of the year, the crowds are not that bad.

"It's been pretty bearable," Frederickson said.

Lillie Rose Seymour said, "When we pulled up I said, 'Look, the cars are all the way out to the street!'" But her daughter added, "It's not as bad as it looks."

For retailers, it all looks good.

"What we are seeing right now is people are so excited to get out and be buying those things for the holidays and excited about the sales we are offering, so it's just been a great day," Barnett said.

Premium Outlets have extended hours now through the end of the Holiday Season.
