ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -

It was a community affair in Athens Thursday as volunteers came out to help serve Thanksgiving dinner.

After countless hours of preparation, nearly 100 volunteers in the Athens community gathered to help feed those without a Thanksgiving dinner.

Local families and veterans not only served people on the spot, they also delivered hundreds of meals to the homebound in Limestone County.

"That's all I need to see is someone have a meal & they're happy cause that's we have a lot to be thankful for this is one thing I'm thankful for that we can make other people thankful ," said co-organizer Roxanne Haggermaker.

The group said they will now start planning Christmas dinner.
