Pascagoula business man gives $300 shopping sprees to kids

PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) -

Several kids definitely have something to be thankful for after being treated to an early Christmas Shopping Spree.

Every year, a Pascagoula business owner and his wife work along with the city to find families that could use some help around the holidays.

There were plenty of smiling faces and overloaded baskets at Walmart in Pascagoula, as 17 lucky boys and girls got $300 and a chance to pick anything they wanted for Christmas.

"This is a Star Wars Light Saver. I got Batman DC 2 Super heroes and Call of DUTY MW3," one kid said.

The Davis family was also eager and excited to show off their new stuff.

"I got some shoes because I don't have many shoes and I need some," Keenan Davis said.

Turf Masters owner Steve Jordan said he loves playing Santa so he can make sure these kids have gifts under the tree.

"We just try to help those who wouldn't have a Christmas if it wasn't for this," Jordan said.

This generous business owner said this shopping spree did come with one big stipulation.

"The one thing we ask them do is to buy something for someone else," Jordan said.

And the kids did just that.

"This is for my mom and it is a bracelet because she is taking care of me," a child said.

Business owner Steve Jordan said he is more than pleased to know the kids will now have a good Christmas and they have also learned the joys of giving.

"I am just privileged to just do this because it is just God at work. God has blessed me and I just want to return the blessing."
