Posted: Updated:
LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

The identity of the woman shot dead Saturday afternoon has been released.

39-year-old Barbara Hudson was shot dead Saturday by an unidentified male after an argument started in the 11-hundred block of N. 3rd street in Longview.

Family members tell KLTV that Barbara was shot once in the back. She died Saturday evening at a Longview hospital. Family members also say that police have arrested the suspect in this shooting, but that has not been confirmed by police.

"I raised her like my own. she's going to be missed , missed by a lot of people, we're going to miss her a lot," says step-father Sidney Weech.

"The young man left here with the officers and about 9 o'clock last night he confessed to having shot her in the back. He'll face his justice in more than one way," Hudson's mother Melinda Weech says.

Saturday afternoon, Longview Police Sergeant Richard Spruiell told us, "Unidentified suspect entered the residence apparently an argument ensued of some type a shot was fired, the suspect left, and the victim was transported to Good Shepherd. We have officers in the area seeing if we might find anyone that might match the description that we were given."

The suspects name has not been released.

Hudson leaves behind two teenage children.
