JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
The Mississippi Board of Medical Licensure has proposed new regulations that could impact the way nurse practitioners operate in Mississippi.
The proposal would limit the number of collaborations between physicians and nurse practitioners.
Those collaboration agreements between nurse practitioners and doctors were the focus of many of the testimonies in a hearing Thursday.
Some nurse practitioners say the regulations would jeopardize the access to care for patients, particularly in rural areas. For others, they say it could even force them to shut down their clinics.
