Detectives investigate deadly shooting at plant nursery

HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) -

 

Authorities are investigating a shooting at a plant nursery that left a 71-year-old woman dead Wednesday.

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office said Mary Alvarez was shot at Alvarez Nursery on LA 51 in Hammond around 5 p.m.

Sheriff Daniel Edwards said she later died.

He added an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday morning to better determine the details surrounding the elderly woman's death.
