Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has had his problems against the New Orleans Saints. Over the last eight games he's been able to post only two victories.@
Ryan had success throwing the football, finding tight end Tony Gonzales 11 times for 122 yards and two touchdowns.
When Atlanta set up shop at the Saints one late in the fourth quarter, New Orleans came up with a goal line stand. On 4th and goal from the two cornerback Jabari Greer made a touchdown saving pass breakup, securing a 31-27 Saints win, keeping the Dirty Birds out of the end zone.
Head coach Joe Vitt said, "This is a football team that's been through a lot and stuck together and they're happy for one another when somebody makes a big play and this is the nature of this football team."
Saints quarterback Drew Brees passed for 298 yards and three touchdowns. Tight end Jimmy Graham snagged 7 passes for a career best 146 yards and two touchdowns. The Saints no longer resemble that 0 and 4 team.
Brees said, "And now we have the opportunity next week to get to 5 and 5. To get to .500 will have meant we won five of our last six games. That would be extremely impressive."
Besides holding the Falcons ground game to 46 yards, the Saints rushing attacked banged out 148 yards, 56 on this run by Chris Ivory. Over the last 33 years in following the New Orleans Saints, this touchdown gallop ranks as one of the most exciting runs I have witnessed inside the Superdome.
Over the last 13 games against the Falcons, the Saints have prevailed 11 times. The win over Atlanta was the 13th consecutive victory for New Orleans during the month of November.
The Saints travel to Oakland Sunday afternoon at 3:05.
