GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Gulfport police said they've identified a Mobile, AL man so badly assaulted he was found unconscious on a street in Gulfport Friday.  

According to officials, 45-year-old Jerry Dwayne Turner wasn't identified immediately since he was unconscious. However, they were able to figure out who he was after running his fingerprints.   

Turner was reportedly found by a passerby, who contacted police. He suffered severe injuries and was taken to an area hospital where he remains under stable condition.  

Police are investigating the assault and are asking anyone with details on this incident to contact Gulfport police at 228-868-5959 or give an anonymous tip to Mississippi Coast Crimestoppers 1-877-787-5898.
