Worker: I was told to remove Obama T-shirt

Posted: Updated:
MADISON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Siemens worker who claims he and others were forced to remove shirts depicting President Barack Obama was outraged Wednesday.

According to Robert White of Flora, the day after the president's re-election, a group of employees wore Obama t-shirts to the Richland plant.

He said the workers were asked by human resources to remove the shirts or go home and face being insubordinate.

The 49-year-old assembly worker said they purchased the UAW shirts through local 1956 and have worn them previously.

White said he and others wore Obama shirts and caps before, during and after the 2008 campaign.

The Madison County man and four others removed their shirts but contacted union officials who plan to file a grievance.

"I've seen Romney and Ryan shirts on a couple of white guys. You got people coming out there with confederate flags and different things other political type of statements, and I can't wear the president of the United States of America. I don't know where I'm at anymore," White said.

We were unable to reach Siemens officials for comment.
