BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -
On Tuesday, a suspected robber got more than he bargained for after attempting to rob a couple skilled in responding to armed threats.
According to Biloxi police, 24-year-old Pierre Deonte Williams of the 400 Block of Henry Avenue in Pascagoula was arrested and charged by both Biloxi police and the U.S. Marshal's Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force with armed robbery and aggravated assault.
Lt. Bobby Darden said the victims were exiting their vehicle at Veterans Avenue in Biloxi when Williams came up to them at gunpoint.
Darden said both the victims are contract workers working in Afghanistan and are trained in countering armed threats. They were reportedly able to prevent Williams from completing the robbery.
Williams allegedly shot one of victims, a woman, in the calf, and then fled the scene. The shooting victim suffered a superficial wound, Darden said.
Williams was caught and transported to the Harrison County Sheriff's Department.
Harrison County Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain set Williams bond at $200,000.00 for each charge, for a total bond of $400,000.
Williams was currently out on parole on an unrelated narcotics charge. He is currently being held in the Harrison County Adult Detention Center on the two new charges pending bond.
