There are a series of water parks in South Mississippi that many of our local residents may not be familiar with. The Pat Harrison Waterway system stretches from Meridian all the way down to Wiggins. All together there are nine water parks in the system.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Pat Harrison Waterway System. The closest water park to us is Flint Creek in Stone County. It you have never taken the time to visit Flint Creek, then you should do it this fall.
The six hundred acre lake provides a backdrop for an ideal way to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and enjoy some time in the outdoors. There are numerous picnic tables available to the public as well as a number of cabins and camp sites that can be rented. Some of the best fishing in South Mississippi can be found at Flint Creek.
When the waterway system was designed 50 years ago it was said it would be a great recreational facility as well as provide flood control and emergency drinking water. That vision is now a reality.
The water parks offer first class recreation not only to all of us in Mississippi, but also, visitors from other states.
