MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) -
Dozens of Moss Point democrats woke up Friday morning to find their political yard signs gone. Moss Point Police say they got a tip Thursday night that someone was stealing signs supporting the Obama/Biden campaign.
Chief Keith Davis said his officers caught an adult in a vehicle with several juveniles in possession of about 35 signs. He said they admitted to stealing the signs.
The adult, whose name is not being released, has been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. And additional charges of petty larceny and trespassing are possible.
"We take this seriously and we want to make sure that the voting process is in tact," Chief Davis said. "Individuals that did have a sign in their yard who are missing a sign today, they can go to the campaign headquarters and get the signs replaced. We're going to take these signs back down there and relinquish them to them and let them be responsible for giving those back out to those who would like a sign."
Chief Davis said the group that took the signs told officers it was part of a Homecoming prank.
