New Anthony Sowell appeal arguments: let him live

Anthony Sowell Anthony Sowell
COLUMBUS, OH (WOIO) -

Arguments have just been filed with the state Supreme Court to save the life of serial killer Anthony Sowell.

Sowell killed 11 women, kept the bodies in and around his home, and he now sits on death row.

The new arguments don't pretend he didn't do it. In fact, appeal attorneys say his guilt is a "given." However, they argue his is "not dangerous" in a prison setting, and he should be taken off death row and allowed to live in prison.

The appeal criticizes Sowell's trial attorneys--saying they should have focused on convincing a jury to give him life in prison instead of trying to convince the jury he was not guilty.

A separate appeal is pending in Cuyahoga County Court.
