Sheriff: Deputies bust major pot operation in Harrison Co.

HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Harrison County Sheriff's deputies were busy Tuesday night working a major marijuana manufacturing bust in Coventry Estates, off Highway 15.

Sheriff Melvin Brisolara told WLOX News one of his deputies was driving down Hwy 15 when he smelled marijuana and stopped to investigate. The narcotics unit was notified, and they stumbled upon what's being called one of the more elaborate marijuana manufacturing set ups law enforcers have seen in quite a while.

"It's a pretty good, sophisticated operation," Sheriff Brisolara said.

Deputies served their first search warrant at a home on Windsor Court around 9pm Tuesday night. An hour later, they were still waiting for a second warrant to search a second home.

At 10pm, no arrests had been made, but they are expected.

WLOX News and WLOX.com will have more on this story as details are released.
