Battle of the Bands duke it out in Gulfport

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

It was a battle of the bands in Gulfport Saturday afternoon. About 13 local high school bands were sounding off at the Milner Stadium in Gulfport for the 44th Annual Gulf Coast Marching Band Festival.

Hundreds of parents, students and other supporters filled the stadium listening in on each band give it their best shot.

The event at the stadium was followed by a Battle on the Beach earlier this evening.

    A Gulfport man was sentenced to 30 years Friday for sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl. Michael Jordan, 48, was convicted on four counts of sexual battery for abusing a 15-year-old family member.

    South Mississippi's own Robin Roberts can add another accolade to her list of achievements. The co-anchor of ABC's "Good Morning America" has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Radio Television Digital News Foundation.
