GEORGE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

A stand off between a man and authorities in George County ended peacefully just after 7pm Tuesday night.

Around 1:30pm, George County Sheriff's deputies went to serve a warrant to a man on B&B Lane. When the deputies arrived, the man barricaded himself inside a building. As deputies tried to talk him out of the building, officials say the man threatened to start firing shots outside.

At that point, the George County deputies called the Mississippi Highway Patrol for help. MHP. sent in its SWAT team to take over negotiations with the man.

According to Mississippi Highway Patrol Spokesman Johnny Poulos, the man was alone inside the small building. Poulos said the area is in the county and not highly residential.
