OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) -

Thanks to a devoted group of volunteers, Ocean Springs is beginning to look like fall.  Bails of hay, stacks of pumpkins and fun fall cut outs can be seen around town.

Each year, a group of volunteers who work closely with the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce – Main Street – Tourism Bureau take time from their busy schedules to decorate town for the season.

Local businesses in Ocean Springs have begun to embrace this year's fall season as well. Filled with the colors of autumn, window dressings, sidewalks, and porches are getting spruced up to celebrate this festive season.

"I love this time of year" said resident Althia Dobbs.  "Seeing all the fall decorations makes each shop feel inviting and cheerful."

Several big events will brings locals and tourists to downtown Ocean Springs this fall, including Cruisin' the Coast stops on October 11-13 and the 34th Annual Peter Anderson Arts & Crafts Festival November 3 and 4.

The Pascagoula Panthers open the 2017 football season on the road. In fact, their first three games are road contests. That scheduling quirk may give field turf crews just enough time to get War Memorial Stadium ready for the September 8 home opener. The wet weather in South Mississippi is placing quite the burden on construction workers as they attempt to complete stadium renovations. The project was suppose to be finished before the beginning of Pascagoula's football season.
