Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) October 08, 2012
Today, Water@Work, the faith-based 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing clean water to the poorest of the poor living in bateys (sugar cane camps) in the Dominican Republic, received a $36,000 donation from First Water Systems, Inc. Located in Suwannee (GA), First Water Systems provides emergency water purification systems for critical infrastructure projects, health care, government, and military installations, and specializes in international development and disaster response.
“First Water is honored to support this incredible effort to bring water, spiritual and economic development to the people of the bateys. As business professionals, we appreciate the people and business model employed by W@W. We have long supported this ministry and plan to continue in the future because they simply get results and exude integrity. We would recommend every business look at their efforts and judge them for themselves,” says Steve Flaim, president of First Water Systems.
“First Water Systems’ substantial financial contribution will allow us to install a brand-new, state-of-the-art water purification system that will provide clean water for an entire village - up to 3,000 people - for decades to come,” notes Patrick Borders, Executive Director of Water@Work, which is headquartered in Atlanta. “We have selected this system to be placed in batey Monte Cristy, one of 400 sugar cane camps in the DR, and hope to install it by December 2012.
“In addition, through First Water Systems’ overwhelming generosity and past donations, Water@Work is able to fund its administrative and support costs for a period of one year, allowing 100% of future donations to go to the installation of new water filtration systems.”
Water@Work’s mission is to help transform the bateys and other settlements in the DR, and the lives of the people who live there, by installing state-of-the-art water purification systems, using these guiding principles:
“Everyone is invited to join Water@Work to bring clean water and God’s Word to the DR. The opportunity to lift up an entire at-risk population across the DR is both humbling and within reach,” adds Borders. “This donation is a great step toward raising the necessary funds to bring clean water to every batey resident, their children, and every future generation.”
