BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -
The 44th Annual Inauguration and Awards Luncheon was time set aside to honor several board members, community leaders and employees for their dedication to an organization that has for years worked tirelessly to help the community's youth.
Aesha Coleman, now a freshman at USM, was chosen as this year's Youth of the Year, a position that leads her to compete for the national title.
"The club was like my second family," Coleman remembered. "My instructors were all there for me in my hard times. That's my second home and will always be my second home."
It's youth like Aesha and other South Mississippi children with that same drive that come in contact with these leaders every day, giving them another chance to change the outlook of their lives.
Dave Condon of Diversified Non Profit Solutions, who is also a former Boys and Girls Club member, gave an inspiring presentation at the ceremony.
WLOX News Anchor Meggan Gray was among many who were recognized for
their contributions to the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Gulf Coast.
Meggan took home the Lee Kerley Dedication to Youth Award. She serves as
a board member for the BGCGC of Greater Gulfport.
WLOX-TV was also recognized at the event with the Outstanding Supporter Award.
