GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -
Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said Melanie Nestle, 40, of Gulfport is the woman, who was killed after she was hit by a train in her vehicle Sunday shortly before 8 p.m.
Hargrove said she was located only a block away from her home at the tracks on 33rd Avenue in Gulfport.
Nestle's vehicle reportedly got stuck on the trucks. She called her husband for help. When he arrived he started banging on her window as a train headed in their direction, Hargrove said.
Just as her husband attempted to pull her out, the train hit her vehicle.
Hargrove said no one knows whether she heard the train coming.
Lt. Leslee Curry with Gulfport police said a crash investigation is underway and no passengers were in the vehicle. No other injuries were reported.
