Woman killed in accident on I-10 in Hancock County

HANCOCK COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

A Hancock County woman died following a four car accident on I-10 eastbound in Hancock County Thursday.

Hancock County Coroner Jim Faulk said the woman is Michelle Lacoste, 33.

Authorities are rerouting I-10 traffic at Highway 603 in Hancock County after the accident sent two people to the hospital Thursday afternoon.

Authorities said a woman driving a small car hit the guard rail; the car flipped and rolled onto her.   She was airlifted to USA Medical Center in Mobile.

A van traveling nearby clipped the car, according to officers on the scene. The driver of the van was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Officials said the first accident also led to a chain reaction involving two other vehicles. The people in those vehicles appeared to be unharmed, officials said.

No word yet on which vehicle Lacoste was driving.
