It's a sign of progress in Harrison County. Several beach closed signs are coming down.
The director of Harrison County's sand beach authority contacted WLOX News to say a section of Biloxi's beachfront is once again open. That section is from Debuys Road to Treasure Bay.
Chuck Loftis told us his crews are done removing the Hurricane Isaac debris dumped on that section of the beach. He also said the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality has determined that section of the sand is safe for families and tourists.
In the days right after Hurricane Isaac came ashore, Loftis said it could take anywhere from two to four months to reopen all 26 miles of sand beach across Harrison County.
The decision to reopen one section in Biloxi comes just a day after hotel managers urged sand beach crews to work quicker. They claimed that as long as the beach remained closed, hotel booking would be down.
