There's a million ways you could spend your weekend. If you intend on spending yours on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, here are a few ideas:

Mississippi Songwriters festival

Songwriters from Mississippi all the way to Nashville will be in Ocean Springs for the Mississippi Songwriter's Festival. They'll be performing simultaneously throughout the downtown area. This event will feature song writing workshops and much more. Some of the songwriters attending have written for singers, Trace Adkins, Brad Paisley, Darrell Worley and many more. Diamondhead arts and crafts festival 

Bring the family over to the 28th Annual Diamondhead Arts and Crafts Fair. They'll get to see one hundred fifty vendors offering face painting, massages, hand-made arts and crafts, multimedia art work and more. Plus there's going to be raffles and food. A free shuttle bus will take attendees to and from the parking lot to the festival. Proceeds benefit Diamondhead Continuing Education.

Gulfport Junior Auxiliary Charity Ball  

You're going to want to dress to impress if you attend the 63rd Annual Gulfport Junior Auxiliary Charity Ball. This event is black tie themed and features delicious food options, a silent and live auction, and live performances by Anderson Domingues and 2 Hipnotic. The ball takes place at the Beau Rivage Saturday from 7 until midnight.

Gulf Coast Boy Scout Expo 

Local Boy Scout troops and Cub Scout packs invite you to the Gulf Coast Boy Scout Expo this Saturday at Gulfport Centennial Plaza. This event shows you all the cool activities involved with boy scouts. Some of those activities include dry river rafting, tarantula races, obstacle courses and more. This is an excellent opportunity for interested children to see what the boy scouts are all about. The expo is open to the public from noon until 3pm.

Hopping for hearts  

Gulfport will be Hopping for Hearts. This exciting fundraiser not only gives you a taste of a variety of beverages from downtown bars it also supports the American Heart Association. The hop starts at 5pm and ends at 8. Attendees will pull a card at each stop on the hop and have a chance to win door prizes. At the end of the night whoever collects the most cards will win the grand prize.

Art Fair Extraohrdinaire 

You'll have a blast at the Ohr-O'keefe museum of art for the Art Fair Extraohrdinaire. This two day event shows off art, architecture, music and great food. You'll see 50 visual artists, art demonstrations, and hands on art making activities for adults and children. In addition, area chefs will hold cooking demonstrations using locally grown crops and artisan foods. Feel free to stroll the museum and its galleries. This event is Saturday and Sunday starting at 10.
