Biloxi quarterback Jaylen Woullard, the 2011 WLOX Offensive Player of the Year, picked up from where he left off last season.
In the decisive 70 to 13 win over Long Beach, Woullard completed 10 of 16 passes, for 181 yards and four touchdowns.
Woullard added 55 yards rushing including this thrilling 22 yard touchdown scamper for the games first of many touchdowns.
He's this weeks Domino's Pizza Player of the Week.
Woullard said, "Throwing wise you know I think my arm has gotten stronger, more accurate. You know we're just an all around team."
Head coach John Shannon has developed a high-octane offensive attack since arriving at Biloxi. He says he has challenged Woullard.
"I told him its tine for him to step up out of his plateau and step up and start making some different plays and some more plays. " Shannon added, "We challenge him every week."
Woullard has completed 62 percent of his passes, 597 yards and 10 touchdowns in three games. Opposing defensive teams are well aware of his running ability having piled up 239 yards and a touchdown, netting almost 11 yards per carry.
Woullard stated, "My goal is to complete more passes., focus on my plays, execute and get every play right on the field."
Despite his superlative statistics major colleges haven't pursued Woullard just yet. Big time schools normally don't sign quarterbacks under 6 feet but Shannon says Woullard is being recruited as an athlete.
"He's good enough to play as a safety, play a receiver... but quarterback is his position because he can throw the ball, he can run and he can make good decisions."
Biloxi has a bye this week and open Region 4-6A play on the road at rival D'Iberville September 21st.
