Weekend Whereabouts September 7 - 9

Check out over 100 plus AKC registered dog breeds at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum Friday - Sunday. If you haven't been to an AKC dog show before, you're missing out. There's going to be a variety of dogs of all shapes, sizes and colors competing in various categories. Dogs will be judged on things like movement, appearance and structure. This show lasts until Sunday.

This next event I can honestly say is one of the dirtiest, but at the same time one of the most exciting events--it's called the 17th Annual Volkslauf Mud Run and WLOX Reporter Michelle Lady and I literally got down and dirty for the race last year.

Here's what you need to know if you go: it's a four mile trail filled with mud and water. You'll have to go through dry obstacles, a water slide and mud hills. This event is open to the public. In order to attend you must have a valid license and vehicle insurance. Registration and check-in begins at 6:30 a.m. and the race begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday

The Jackson County Fairgrounds will hold the 21st Annual Mississippi Gulf Coast Blues and Heritage Festival this Saturday. You don't have to be a blues fan to enjoy this festival that includes, delicious food, arts and crafts and much more. Rain or shine, the Klass Band, Jeff Flord, Arthor Foy are just a few of the top blues and soul performers scheduled for the stage.

Taste the best seafood from coast restaurants and chefs at the 31st Annual Biloxi Seafood Festival. This two day, family friendly event is packed with a variety of seafood dishes like gumbo, shrimp, crab. You'll see arts and crafts vendors and listen to live entertainment. Plus the kids will love the kids village and other children's activities.

More than 100 types of classic vehicles and bikes will be parked in downtown Bay St. Louis for the Masonic Lodge Classic Car and Bike Show. Enter your vehicle or just watch. The show consists of raffles, music, food and much more. Join the fun this Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Shriners Hospital for kids.

The Biloxi Knights of Columbus and American Red Cross want your blood. They are holding a blood drive this Saturday at Edgewater Mall from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. to help increase blood supply. If you can, please come out and donate your blood for this worthy cause.

    The Department of Marine Resources is expecting a big turnout on the water for those wanting to watch the Blue Angels this week in Biloxi. The air show is Saturday and Sunday, but the practice rounds take place Thursday and Friday.
