HATTIESBURG, MS (WLOX) - Mississippi Democrats will now have to find a new candidate to run against incumbent Republican Steven Palazzo for the 4th District congressional seat.
Michael Herrington of Hattiesburg, the man who won the primary, has filed papers to withdraw from the election. That's according to Rickey Cole, Chairman of the Mississippi Democratic Party. Cole said Herrington's mother became ill and the family has had some financial problems.
The party now has a short window to select a replacement candidate for the November 6th general election.
