PEARL RIVER COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Part of the team assessing the damage Saturday in Pearl River County was Sen. Roger Wicker. He came to Mississippi a day early to get a look at the damage in Picayune for himself.
Wicker, along with members of the Board of Supervisors stopped by various neighborhoods to survey the remnants of what Hurricane Isaac left behind.
Some board members, like Sandy Kane Smith, say it's been a pleasure having Wicker's support throughout the storm.
"I would be willing to tell the people that the cities and the counties are out working as hard as they can," Smith said. "Our local Officials on state level, and our governor has really impressed me. He's been on every conference call I've been on. He's been on the coast, and he came to Picayune today. Along with our US Senator Roger Wicker. They're really coming to help us and Steven Plaza came yesterday."
MEMA and FEMA officials will also visit Pearl River County on Sunday. They will be assessing the damage as well.
