JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Disaster relief teams are already arriving in Jackson County to help flood victims, but one local church has joined in the call for help.
A ministry team from Dixie Baptist Church in Hattiesburg spent the day helping Eddie Clark's family. Clark works for the Jackson County Sheriff's Department. His home received several feet of flood waters from Hurricane Isaac.
Church volunteers spent the day salvaging the family's belongings and working to repair the flooded house.
Clark was overwhelmed at the quick response.
"As you can see, there's still mud in my yard and they're here," Clark said. "There's still water in my house and they're here. Snatching everything out, cleaning everything up. I just don't know what to say you know. Between them and the people I work with, it's unbelievable."
One Dixie Baptist volunteer, Tom, says his faith drove him to help out in any way he could.
"Basically, we just came down to try and help these people and show the love that Jesus Christ shows us," Tom said. "That's the reason we're here."
Clark did not have any flood insurance.
Other church groups besides Dixie Baptist are also at work helping other flood victims.
