All state and federal highways now open

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

After several highways were closed for days in the wake of Hurricane Isaac, Mississippi Highway Patrol officials say all state and federal highways are now open.

According MHS troop K spokesman Benjamin Seibert, patrols have also been increased due to the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Highway 603 was reopened early Saturday morning. On Wednesday, part of the highway in Hancock County was completely impassable because it was underwater.

Meanwhile in Biloxi, Hurricane Isaac made a mess of Highway 90. Standing water, blowing sand, and lots of debris kept the road closed for several days.
