Fido's New Home Closer To Being Built

The Gulfport council has agreed to pitch in to help build a new animal shelter in downtown Gulfport. Gulfport Council members voted to donate $300,000 toward the new animal shelter on Highway 49.

The money will be paid out over the next five years. An anonymous donor has pledged to match up to one million dollars in contributions made by the end of this month. A shelter spokesman says Gulfport is making a good investment.

The Humane Society has raised about 700 thousand dollars toward the new shelter. The Harrison County Board of Supervisors and Biloxi's city council has also donated money to the new shelter.
