You could say Wes Windham is the complete package at quarterback. He has good size at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds and when he drops back to pass,he's right on target.
Coach Ryan Ross can also count on Windham to tuck the ball in and take off, taking advantage of his 4.65 speed in the forty-yard-dash. He has all the tools to secure a Division One football scholarship. This is Windham's second season running Ross's offense and he's become more familiar in running the quick striking attack
Windham said,"We understand it more. We can check with different audible's and stuff. We're planning on having a big year offensively."
"Wes has a phenomenal arm as far as arm strength.," coach Ross stated. He added, "He's constantly working to make himself better and possibly go to the next level as far a college football player and that's his goal."
In 2011 Windham had 16-hundred-55 yards passing and 16 touchdowns. He added 460 rushing yards and nine TD's.
Windham also excels on the baseball field and can't give his attention only to football. Coach Ross says when he does hit the football turf, Windham gives his all.
Ross said, "He's stepping up making more of a leader of himself this year."
He's a phenomenal baseball player, a pitcher as well. We don't get him the whole time but when we get him, he dives right in. He's a pleasure to have because he works so hard at it.
Windham doesn't put himself on a pedestal... he's a team player.
Windham said, "Just trying to win a state championship for my team That's more important to me than getting a Division One scholarship."
Southern Miss, Mississippi State, Tulane, Purdue, and SMU have all shown interest in Windham. That interest will grow once the 2012 season kicks in.
