3 Doors Down bassist arrested in D'Iberville

It's WLOX News Director Brad Kessie.  We're following a variety of developing stories this afternoon.

We just confirmed the arrest of 3 Doors Down bassist Todd Harrell.  According to D'Iberville police, Harrell was charged this morning with DUI.  He reportedly ran a stop sign on Lemoyne Boulevard this morning and slammed into the back of another vehicle.  An investigator with D'Iberville police told me Harrell agreed to have blood drawn once officers suspected he was under the influence of a narcotic.

The Pascagoula school system gets to use all of Chevron's tax money.  The state supreme court ruled today Pascagoula doesn't have to share that money with the other three school systems in Jackson County.  That means millions of tax dollars will remain with the Pascagoula School District.  And Superintendent Wayne Rodolfich just told WLOX News that money will be used on building improvements, pay increases, and the students in his district.

Did you get caught in any of this afternoon's deluge?  A storm system raced down from Meridian today, dumping at least two inches of rain in many South Mississippi communities.  It rained so hard, and so fast in Biloxi, flash flooding made much of Highway 90 impassable.

The WLOX 24/7 Weather team is monitoring this weather pattern.  From what our meteorologists can tell, rain will be with us until the early part of next week.  That means you better have the WLOX app downloaded on your Android devices and your iPhones.  And you better monitor WLOX News for updated weather information.

On a much lighter note, the primetime Emmy awards came out today.  To see if your favorite show, or your favorite actor got a nomination, check out the story we posted on the WLOX Facebook wall.    The link you're looking for is the one with a big Modern Family picture attached to it.  As you might guess, the ABC sitcom racked up another Outstanding Comedy Series nomination.

Have a great night.  Stay dry.
