Motorcyclists Recovering After Being Thrown From Bike

Two people are in the hospital Friday morning after a Ford Explorer hit their motorcycle. The accident happened just after midnight at the intersection of Pass Road and Fernwood Drive in Biloxi.

Biloxi Police say the driver of the Ford Explorer was turning left onto Fernwood Drive and hit the motorcycle head on.

The driver and the passenger were thrown from the motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle hit the windshield of the Ford Explorer. Both of them were wearing helmets.

The motorcycle driver is in serious condition at Gulf Coast Medical Center, and sustained injuries to his legs, hip, right arm, jaw and pelvic area. He was in surgery early Friday morning. The passenger is in ICU at Gulf Coast Medical Center, and sustained injuries to her arms.

The driver of the Ford Explorer was not injured, but was arrested for DUI refusal, driving without a driver's license and insurance and failing to yield to the right of way.

No names are being released at this time.
