Sterilizations of alleged puppy mill dogs underway

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - The Humane Society Of South Mississippi has begun sterilizing more than 50 dogs seized from an alleged puppy mill in Stone County.

Officials said the spaying and neutering began on Friday and should continue through Wednesday because of the large number of dogs.

The Gulfport shelter is asking for donations of bleach, latex gloves, toilet paper and canned dog and puppy food. Officials said they hope to start offering the dogs for adoption by the end of next week.

People interested in adoption are encouraged to watch photos and video of the puppies.
