Capital murder case in Jackson Co. moving forward

JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Three people are now charged in connection with the murder of a Jackson County man. Charles Ike Mason Jr. was shot to death in March 2011. Mason, a Helena junkyard owner, was found dead inside his home in an area known as Hog Island.

Jeffery Grey Allen, 32, and Donna Marie Freeman, 33, were charged with capital murder a few months after Mason's death. Now a Jackson County Grand Jury has indicted them.

Freeman was served her indictment in the Jackson County Adult Detention Center where she is being held. Allen is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a probation violation.

The Grand Jury also indicted a third person. Joshua Keith Davis, 24, is charged with accessory after the fact of capital murder. Davis was already in the Jackson County Adult Detention Center on an unrelated charge.

Accessory after the fact carries a maximum of $1,000 fine and 5 years sentence.
