PASS CHRISTIAN, MS (WLOX) -

Pass Christian hopes a courtship of classic car lovers will spark a lasting love for the city among visitors. This year, Cruisin' the Coast has added to Pass Christian to the list of pit stops. And the city is ready to showcase what it has to offer.

Only two months after opening, employees at Hook Restaurant in Pass Christian said they're already developing a good sized clientele.  They feel a chance to have a Cruisin' the Coast event just outside their door could rev up their customer base.

"That would just be awesome," said restaurant manager Ashton Therrin. "Just getting all different people from all around the country to come see what we're all about. Good food. Great atmosphere. It would be awesome to have that many people come down and be able to take care of them."

The newly formed Pass Christian Main Street Association was created to promote area businesses and attractions. Members said they couldn't think of a better way to showcase the city than to invite thousands of classic cars lovers to have lunch in the Pass.

"It's a great event put together by a lot of people," said Adam Pace, Pass Christian Main Street President. "We thought it would be a great opportunity to bring some people back to our town and be able to see everything we've done to come back since the storm."

Organizers said the Cruisin' event with be in the area of Davis Avenue and Scenic Drive and include live entertainment.

"We're going to do this the first Monday of Cruisin' and talking to the officials of Cruisin' the Coast, they say we'll have possibly 800 to 1,000 cars here," Pace said. "So we're pushing having lunch in the Pass. We have the best working harbor around so great opportunity for tourists to come through and get some local seafood, oysters and shrimp at all our local restaurants."

Cruisin' the Coast Executive Director Woody Bailey told WLOX he's excited about Pass Christian being involved with Cruisin this year. He said it's a great location and will be a great addition for cruisers in town that Monday.
