Teen killed at Tri-State Pole and Piling

GEORGE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - A Tri-State Pole and Piling worker was killed on the job Monday around 9:30 a.m. after he was hit in the head by a falling pole, according to George County Sheriff Public Information Officer Shonna Pierce.

Thomas Patrick Harlan Jr., 15, was pronounced dead on the scene. Harlan is the son of Thomas Harlan Sr. the owner of Tri-State Pole and Piling.

Pierce said, squared bundles of poles held together by metal straps were being stacked, when one of the poles broke loose and hit Harlan in the head. George County Deputy Coroner Stacy Dungan said Harlan's death will be ruled an accident.

Sheriff Dean Howell and investigators from the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations are still on the scene.

Tri-State Pole and Piling is located in Industrial Park off of Tri State Road in George County.
