ORTHOPAEDIC SURGEON INSTALLED AS PRESIDENT OF ORTHOPAEDIC SOCIETY
Alexander D. Blevens, M.D., a physician at Bienville Orthopaedic Specialists, was installed as the president of the Mississippi Orthopaedic Society in Natchez, Mississippi on April 18, 2004.
Dr. Blevens specializes in reconstructive hand surgery. He is the Founder and Medical Director of The Hand Center of South Mississippi. Dr. Blevens is a member of both the American Association for Hand Surgery and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
After receiving his degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, he was an Orthopaedic Surgery Resident at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois. His fellowship was in Hand Surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Dr. Blevens obtained his recertification for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand in 2003.
The Mississippi Orthopaedic Society is affiliated with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and has over 100 active members in the state. The purpose of the society is to foster a closer association of the orthopaedic surgeons in the state of Mississippi for the advancement of the science of bone and joint surgery.
Dr. Blevens will be replacing Thom Tarquinio, M.D. and will serve a one year term until the next annual meeting in Greenwood, Mississippi.
