The New Orleans Honeybees will hold auditions on the coast in July

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - 15 young ladies from the coast and surrounding areas were invited to participate in a two-hour preparation dance clinic at the Beau Rivage.

The Honeybees will be holding auditions for the dance team on July 12th at the Beau. Sunday's session gave the dancers first hand experience on what to expect next month.

Honeybees manager and choreographer Ashley Deaton said, "This is for girls thinking about tryout out who may want to become Honeybees.  They come here to learn some choreography, see what it's all about on the actual auditions... to make sure it's the right fit for them."

The Honeybees are projected to name 20 to 24 dancers for the upcoming NBA season. Those who decide to tryout for the team can expect a stiff challenge.

Deaton said, "The Honeybees work really hard.  They train two or three days a week.  They work with trainers to make sure they stay fit.  They do some really athletic aggressive intense choreography.  So these girls need to be in shape and need to be on top of their dance training.  They must also display a lot of energy and showmanship."

Another prep dance session is slated 7:30 Monday night at Premier Fitness on Airline Drive in Metairie and 6:30 Tuesday in Baton Rouge at Tari's School of Dance.

The Honeybees audition on the coast is set for July 12th at the Beau Rivage.  Registration starts at 6:00 and auditions begin at 7:00.
