Police: Relative Drove Runaway Children To Kosciusko

Pascagoula Police on Thursday confirmed it was a relative who drove the Jones children out of town on Mother's Day night. But police won't say who that relative is, or if that act was a crime.

In fact, Pascagoula Police chief Mike Whitmore would only issue a written statement about the case, despite getting the okay from County Court Judge Larry Wilson to talk to the media.

The statement says a family member drove Timothy, Felisha and Sierra Jones to Kosciusko sometime before midnight on May 9th. Police say a friend of the family called five days later to tell them where the children were.

The statement did not contain any information about why it took so long to contact police. It does say the investigation continues and no charges have been filed.

Thursday night, the Jones children remained in the custody of the Department of Human Services, awaiting a custody ruling from Judge Wilson.
