WLOX Editorial: Dream Home Giveaway helps children battle cancer

Posted: Updated:

If you haven't already, we encourage you to purchase a St. Jude Dream Home ticket. Yes, the $100 ticket gives you a chance to win a $415,000 home in the Village of Tradition, and a shot at winning 13 other prizes, but the ultimate goal is to raise money to help children with cancer.

The money raised from the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway goes directly to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. St. Jude treats children with cancer and covers not only the treatment, but also everything from housing and food to travel while the child is being treated in Memphis.

In addition to treatment, St. Jude focuses on research. Since opening in 1962, the overall cancer survival rate has climbed to 80%, and for some forms of childhood Leukemia it's even higher at 94%. That offers much hope to the children battling cancer and also their families.

So reach deep into your pockets if you can, and buy a dream home ticket by calling the ticket hotline number at 1-800-206-2263. You will help save lives and who knows you could be the lucky winner of a brand new dream home.

That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to editorials@wlox.com, or post your comments below.
