This weekend Jones Park held its grand opening. Thousands of music fans came out for the Gulfport Music Festival. It's good to have Jones park back after Hurricane Katrina destroyed it. In addition to being the perfect place for outdoor events, it's also a beautiful green space for all of us to use.
No doubt the splash pad will be a cool spot in the heat of the summer for children of all ages. And the park's sidewalks will lure walkers and joggers. The park also boasts two pavilions which while perfect for events, will also offer a shady spot during none event times. Plus, the park is situated by one of the finest harbors on the coast and offers some beautiful views for people to enjoy.
The next big event at Jones Park will be Memorial Day weekend when the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra holds its annual free concert, Sounds by the Sea. It's the perfect time to rediscover Jones Park. Thanks to all who had a part in bringing back this beautiful front door to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
