Family upset over South Jones dress code

A Jones County mother received national attention on Wednesday after she took her child out of school for violating the dress code at South Jones Elementary.

The shirt in question is a United States Marine Corps shirt with a bulldog mascot with the phrase "If you are not the lead dog…The view never changes" on the front and back. The back of the shirt shows the pantless dog from behind. The student was asked to turn the shirt inside out or have his parents bring him a different shirt.

The story was included in the Rush Limbaugh nationally syndicated radio program.

The sixth grade student, Jordan Griffith, said his brother, Timothy Swan, who is currently serving in Afghanistan, gave him the shirt.

South Jones Elementary Principal Steve Musgrove said the shirt "was in violation of the dress code."
