It's do-or-die for two coast baseball teams

It's WLOX News Director Brad Kessie.  It's not often that I focus on baseball at the top of my daily newsletter.  Then again, it's not often that two South Mississippi high school teams play do-or-die baseball games.

Gulfport travels to Oak Grove tonight.  Harrison Central goes to Petal.  The winners play later this week in the Class 6A South State title series.  We're cheering for Gulfport and Harrison Central to pull off the upsets, so they can meet this weekend for a berth in the state championship. Dave Schroeder has highlights from both games on WLOX News at 10:00 on ABC and CBS.

We have an emotional story tonight on WLOX News at 10:00.  Elizabeth Vowell follows a World War II veteran and his granddaughter on the Honor Flight to our nation's capital. His granddaughter just happens to be WLOX News reporter Michelle Lady.  For years, Michelle heard stories about World War II.  The Honor Flight gave her a chance to see the people her grandfather always mentioned.

If you're sending your child to a Mississippi four year university, get ready to reach deeper into your bank accounts to pay for that education.  Today, the state college board formally adopted a two year tuition increase that could add an additional 14 percent to some college bills.  We have the story on WLOX News at 6:00.

Be sure you have the WLOX 24/7 Weather app downloaded on your smart phones.  Mike Reader says there's a chance some severe weather could threaten South Mississippi over the next several hours.  If it does, the WLOX app will give you instant access to our live, interactive radar. This is a great time to download WLOX on your iPhone, your iPad and your Android devices. Just search your app store for "WLOX Weather."
