MDMR to hold public hearing

GULFPORT, MS (AP) - The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources will hold a public hearing May 8 on an application to build a bulkhead, keyhole boat slip and dredge on the north bank of Bernard Bayou in Gulfport.

The application was filed by Maritime Development Center LLC. The company has proposed a keyhole boat slip measuring 100 feet wide by 160 feet long.

The installation would require approximately 10,000 cubic yards of upland excavation. The proposed bulkhead would be 970 feet in length and require the dredging of 5,600 cubic yards of waterbottoms next to the proposed boat slip and bulkhead.

The applicant also seeks to remove piers and mooring pilings currently located on the project site.
