Old Icon Gets A New Look

Good food, good people, and good service.

This is the motto the LaFont Inn in Pascagoula was built on back in 1963, and that's what it showcased during its customer appreciation party and open house.

The event was held to show the public even though the inn may be under new management, but the quality remains the same.

"It's just been a transition for this facility and some of the people don't know the improvements and have been a little apprehensive about coming and we just wanted them to see the changes and hopefully they'll feel it's positive and they'll feel comfortable coming here," said co-owner Ed Trehern.

People had the opportunity to see the improved LaFont Inn, which includes a renovated lobby as well as dining rooms.

Many of the guests rooms have new furniture, carpet, granite counter tops, and bed spreads, and for those watching their figures, an improved exercise room.

In 1963, founder Doug Fontaine wanted to build a place to please all of the new people coming into the area during that time, providing them with a home away from home.

So we asked his opinion on the inn's new makeover.

"I think that the taste is excellent. And I think that the traveling public will find the product that they need to be happy, content, and come again," said founder Doug Fontaine.

And the owners hope Mr. Fontaine is right.

One owner says their next step is to renovate the rooms near the pool.
