All seats will be filled at the next Biloxi School Board meeting. Tuesday, the Biloxi City Council unanimously approved the two candidates appointed by Mayor A.J. Holloway to fill the board's two vacant seats. Loyce Searight is filling the seat of retired board member Mildred Roy. Keith Anderson is replacing Rick Stewart who resigned March 2nd after what he called personal attacks from the community. In recent months, the board has been plagued by infighting, a state audit, and an inquiry into the Biloxi school district by an independent accreditation agency. However, both new board members are looking forward to their new roles.
"I think we can all work together...as a board should. We'll put the past behind us and just move forward into the future and make Biloxi prosperous again," said Keith Anderson.
"I'm a positive thinker along those lines, I believe we can work together, think things out," said Loyce Searight.
