Uncle Sam Buys Out Flooded Homes

Eight Jackson County homeowners will soon move to higher ground. Their flood prone homes are being bought out through a FEMA buyout program.

Removing the flood prone homes will cost the county and state about 800-thousand dollars, but will in the long run save money.

County leaders say they will consider more buyouts in the future. This one is expected to take more than a year for the buyout to go through.
