MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) -

A worker at the Omega Protein seafood plant in Moss Point died Monday night. Authorities haven't released an official cause of death, but Moss Point Police Chief Keith Davis said it appeared to be a work-related accident.

Chief Davis said a 911 call was made around 8:42pm on Monday night. The worker's name has not been released.

The Moss Point plant and its adjacent shipyard employ about 300 people. There's work year-round, although it picks up during Menhaden fishing season. that runs from mid-April until the first of November.

In May 2011, three men were killed aboard an Omega Protein fishing boat. The Sandy Point collided with a 660-foot container ship in the Gulfport ship channel.
