Jackson Police Chief Robert Moore says there appears to be a "common thread'' between the killing of a motorist on Interstate 220 and the earlier wounding of a 10-year-old girl.
Both shootings appear to be linked to two groups involved in an ongoing dispute, the chief said Tuesday.
He said officers noticed the apparent connection while developing background information on Fadenso Jackson, 21, of Jackson, who was fatally shot Monday while driving on I-220.
That shooting is believed to be in retaliation for the Friday wounding of 10-year-old Shavonda Henry, Moore said.
Shavonda was hit in the arm by a stray bullet while at a house.
Moore declined to discuss specifics of the investigation. He said no arrests have been made in the shootings of Shavonda or Jackson.
